A devastated father asks why the police and government have stayed silent over the killing of his daughter
Angkhana's father Jinda Radabpanyawoot gave an interview to The Nation Channel a day after his daughter died close to the Royal Plaza.
Q: When did she pass away? A: Around 7pm.
Q: Who informed you (about Bo's injury)? A: Her mom. She asked for a phone in the ambulance that took her to Siriraj Hospital - she was injured too.
Q: The report says you accompanied them to the rally site. Is that true? A: Yes, I did. I dropped them at the back of Government House and they walked from there. Normally, they stayed inside the Government House grounds, but today (Tuesday), they headed to the Royal Plaza. I didn't think she would go so I didn't warn her or anything. My wife said that she tried to shield Bo and she was holding her hand. At first my wife thought she had let go of Bo's hand but actually Bo lost her grip when the shrapnel hit her.
Q: Shrapnel from the tear gas? A: It couldn't have been. Bo's sister was also injured, on her hands and legs. Teargas wouldn't cause such serious injuries. I did see a big wound on the side of Bo's body, close to her heart.
Q: Did your wife send her to the hospital? A: No. My wife went to Siriraj and Bo went to Rama while Bo's sister went to Rajvithi hospital. I spent hours finding them all.
Q: When you arrived at the hospital, had Bo already passed away? A: She must have gone before that. I didn't know at all since the hospital didn't inform me.
Q: Were the mother and two daughters regular protesters? A: Yes, Bo's mom went there at 3am on Monday. She came back to take a shower and they went out. I sometimes go too. I thought they would stay safe inside [Government House grounds] but they came out. She didn't know Bo's condition and when she called me. I searched for Bo and found out that that she'd died. After that, I looked for my wife. My wife and other daughter are still hospitalised.
Q: Do you want someone to take responsibility? A: Who can I turn to. You know who did it. We're unarmed people and have nothing more than feet and hands to fight them with.
